Anne of Avonlea - L.M. Montgomery While not nearly as enchanting as the first installment, this is still a worthwhile read. Anne is not quite as young and talkative, but she still is a dreamer and finds friendship with others who share her love of poetry over reality. I loved Anne of Green Gables for Anne's optimistic and self-sacrificing outlook on life, but I couldn't enjoy Anne of Avonlea quite as much. I think this was due to the overwhelming amount of stretches from realism. We have precocious Paul, patiently waiting & forever young Lavender, a surprise spouse, and legendary garden. I guess it was just too little like real life for me.
